Jeebus, that’s pathetic. Seriously, I’m embarrassed for them. That’s the best they could do?
Oh, that will go over well. Will it be a tarrif on Chinese flag ships? Looks like Liberia will get a whole lot of new flagging business. Chinese owned ship? Bring on the shell companies! Ships chartered out of China? The penguins will run the largest transshipping warehouse in the world.
Jones actually has a surprisingly long history with Trump. The president appeared on his show in 2015 before he was successfully elected to the White House in 2016 and Jones was at the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. capitol as Trump supporters tried to keep the fascist president in office.
Thank you, Gizmodo.
The other ironic thing about targeting Harvard specifically is that, if you really know much about Harvard, the idea that it’s indoctrinating students and making them all leftists is laughably wrong. Ben Shapiro? Harvard Law. Kayleigh McEnany? Harvard Law. Elise Stefanik? Harvard. Henry Kissinger, Wilbur Ross, Caspar Weinberger, Mike Pompeo, Ron DeSantis, Mitt Romney, Glenn Youngkin, Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz, and I’m tired of looking up any more . . . all went to Harvard.
More information about this:
We’re here, everyone. This is it. A US citizen . . . a natural born US citizen (he was born in Georgia) has been detained by ICE for illegally entering Florida, and they’re refusing to release him. If this guy ends up being sent to CECOT, we’re really, really, really in trouble as a nation. I mean, I know we are already, but this will make it undeniable.
What’s the problem with offshore wind? There’s nobody around they can give cancer to, no Trump golf courses they can spoil the view of, no properties the value of which they can lower
Awesome. Can’t wait for the next “unexpected” blizzard next winter. I suppose NEXRAD maintenance is also getting chopped, so tons more people will die from tornadoes this summer.
Hope that blizzard hammers DC.
@Dr_Faustus: Mango Mussolini thinks they’re “ugly”.
I know I’m not the only one that remembers when this was a real sticking point for RWNJs and one of the things I could actually agree with them about.
This was back when they’d say things like “papers, please” as a way of suggesting the USA was being taken over my “leftists.” I never agreed with that because it was so transparently false, but I did agree that persistent insistence on strengthening “Official Documentation” was not a sign of a free nation.
Yeah, they’ve let that one go, haven’t they? (Yes, I know why. It’s always the racism.)
I foresee a huge discrepancy in food safety between red states and blue states in the future, if this goes through…
Fucking great. People will die.
I can feel her “disappointment” from here. She and Sen. Collins can just fuck right the hell off.
But they’re offshore! He’s not offshore! The point of offshore wind is that you can’t see it! (And that the wind is more reliable).
I know I’m looking for logic where there is none, but still…
He felt slighted by wind power once and he’s a pathetic and mean old man who can’t ever let anything go, so now he tries to destroy it wherever possible. It’s as simple as that.
Yes, that’s why we can’t have nice things.
Because a nice thing was mean to Trump once.
I realised something today, when someone somewhere mentioned Trump’s origins in reality TV (at least his origins as a national public figure).
It’s not a façade.
It’s a set.
They don’t care what’s under the gold leaf because it’s just set dressing. It doesn’t matter that the decorations are plastic because the people they care about will never be able to touch them to confirm. They don’t care about the people that come to the White House. Diplomats and world leaders and domestic politicians don’t matter as people, they only matter as extras in the drama they stage for the TV public.
When Reagan met Gorbachev in the White House to sign the INF treaty it was a meeting of two people who mattered, who spoke for their respective countries and blocs. They met at eye level and if there had been no TV cameras, the meeting would have probably gone much the same way.
When Trump met Zelensky to dress him down, or when he met Meloni just now or Gretchen Whitmer earlier this week, the TV cameras were the point. Had there been none, there wouldn’t have been a meeting.
It’s all reality TV all the time.
This is probably not news to anyone, but I hadn’t made the connection, maybe because I don’t get what people see in reality TV. It’s probably not a surprise that for me as an archaeologist it is material culture (the fake volutes) that sparked these thoughts. Most of my thinking revolves around material culture in some way.
