Ok, what the fuck. This motherfucker just cannot let go of his right wing bullshit, even when calling for civic uprising against right wing authoritarianism.
He mentions Trumpism’s aversion to
… yet is profoundly blind to how progressivism has helped create and strengthen and championed those pillars of civilization.
I mean, just because he was completely wrong about incredibly important things doesn’t mean he ought to reconsider what the people who were right about them had to say. If his opinion was still the one to listen to after the Iraq War why wouldn’t it be now?
Yeah, you’d think maybe he’d have a moment of self reflection and think, “Hey, I wonder if these people who were right about Trump might also be right about other things?” But no, he apparently thinks their being right about Trump is an aberration.
The Conservative writer seems to have forgotten about how congressional Conservatives shot down a bi-partisan plan for handling immigration. I have a feeling the NYT will be swamped with readers’ responses to the piece.
BTW: For those who haven’t heard, there are rallies planned for every state capital for this Saturday. Attend if you can.
Missouri’s state capital is Jefferson City, for some stupid reason. It’s one of the smallest state capitals in the country. Anyway, I can’t travel that far right now. Are there going to be protests in other cities, too?
I was also wondering about any related side-rallies. Perhaps a visit to 50501 — 50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement site can help there.
Go here Explore events - Political Revolution and search for a site near you. 600 rallies planned for 4/19.
Honestly, the project seemed finished to me.
That is wonderful news. His mother says she plans on suing. She should. She has a strong case. The trooper who arrested him claims he admitted he was here illegally. Such bullshit.
There is one in Kansas City. Hopefully I can go.
It’s so much worse than I realized*…
*Evergreen sentiment for the Trump era, somehow even as I always come in expecting the worst.
Edit: And now that he’s been released, I wonder how much of that was down to the enormous amount of public attention. Obviously given the facts of the case, he should have been immediately released (well, never picked up in the first place), but I have to wonder what would have happened if there hadn’t been the attention, how long it would have dragged out, if the end result would have been different, especially given the cops were simply lying about the facts.
Actual statement: “I’m a citizen - I’m not illegal!”
Cop transcription: “I’m… illegal.”
(Weird how often cops “hear” suspects say something incriminating that’s the opposite of what they actually said…)
He’s so full of shit. Please show us examples of voter suppression of conservatives, Brooksy. Take your time. Oh, you don’t mean that. You mean when progressives counter bullshit with facts; that’s the “silencing” you’re talking about from your gold-plated podium.
Not fascist enough.
Also, keep in mind that reality TV is scripted.
Does it matter? In WW2 communist partisans worked together with catholic resistance fighters and the British secret service because they had a common enemy. These kinds of questions can be discussed after the war.
Hopefully with better results.
Yes, it matters. Does it mean I don’t want his help? No. But we need to take notice of these things so we don’t start thinking people like this are our allies. For them to be discussed later, we have to make note of them now.
I guess better late than never. I could have done without his reference to “stifling progressivism.” But i keep Beau’s bus ride analogy in mind. The short term goal is to stop Trumpism. Without that, there is no longer term anything. There will be fights and disagreements over where we go after detrumpification, but until we get there, i will welcome another to walk with us.
