Given the secrecy of it all, speculation is all over the place, from the possibility that there wasn’t even a written contract (just a verbal agreement) to there being a specific contract which the Trump administration is just blatantly, unilaterally re-writing (i.e. violating). Whatever the case may be, yeah, it makes the lawyers look incompetent - and I don’t think the facts coming out will help them any, because at best they were naive to the point of idiocy by making an agreement with someone they should have known would violate it.
Yeah, it’s a blatant attempt at manipulation, trying to find the insecurity that will make Trump dump Hegseth. Problem is, if it works, the things Trump values: the loyalty, lawbreaking, willingness to commit war-crimes on his behalf, are not just important to Trump, but inevitably are paired with total incompetence (which Trump might realize, on some level). So it’s not like Hegseth will be replaced by anyone better, and all his compatriots in national security are just as incompetent, so nothing will change.
It’s kind of amazing that it’s constant villain monologues, and at best, Trump can’t say anything without trolling. I keep thinking that he’s the 4chan president, but purely coincidentally as he’s the wrong generation as are most of his supporters. The Republicans simply became the party of internet trolls without deliberately trying to (some sort of convergent evolution?).
Honestly, is it really even a conspiracy theory? I mean, the Pope was fragile, and the stress of meeting someone so corrupt and evil, whose actions the Pope was committing so much energy to denouncing, must have been incredibly stressful. Saying “JD Vance killed the Pope” doesn’t require Vance to have actually murdered the Pope in order to be responsible for his death - just being an utter bastard was enough.
I think meeting JD Vance would probably kill me, just from the incredible rise in blood pressure. (Honestly, this administration might do me in just by thinking about them.)

I mean it somewhere between ironic and not. To me it comes down to being about how some people truly believe that they are better than the other makes one way or another and that as the “good” types they are entitled to a higher grade of life than the rest.
I suppose that’s sarcastic, but to me it is also simply an accurate understanding of their worldview.

Honestly, I’m surprised Hegseth lasted this long. Trump famously has zero respect for alcoholics, and by all accounts, Hegseth is an alcoholic.

I had assumed the Pentagon would prevent his nomination. When that didn’t happen I assumed they felt he was controllable. Since he proved he isn’t, they are pushing him out. I hope all the stories about him come out, but if he is leaving, they’ll probably never see the light of day.
Pentagon spokesman, John Ullyot said more “bombshell stories” about Hegseth are set to leak within days. We only got to see the Monday morning story and the Trumpy admin is already giving up. What else is there?
