Yeah, in many states, if you got pulled over for a traffic stop, and the police discovered you were carrying that much cash, they could just assume it was drug money and confiscate it under civil asset forfeiture.

They were essentially seeing stones that allowed users to communicate with others across great distances and see events happening in other places, including in the past.
Power and Risk:
While powerful, using the Palantíri could be risky, as they could be influenced by dark forces and potentially lead to corruption. Saruman was slowly corrupted by Sauron via his palantir, and was already evil but playing good in the Hobbit.
