David’s piece is a nice slap of Maher’s smug face.
Göring, with his mouth full, asked what was so funny, and Hitler said, “I was just telling him about the time my dog had diarrhea in the Reichstag.” Göring remembered. How could he forget? He loved that story, especially the part where Hitler shot the dog before it got back into the car. Then a beaming Hitler said, “Hey, if I can kill Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals, I can certainly kill a dog!” That perhaps got the biggest laugh of the night — and believe me, there were plenty.
If invited, the Vatican (expert schemers) may be aiming for something a touch more subtle as far as some pushback. Mess with Trump and Melania by having them seated in the obviously worst spot possible. Then ignore them. Have them be stared at by what would very likely be dignitaries and such who despise Trump. Also, whereas eulogies are not permitted at Catholic funerals, homilies are (pertinent verses read from the Bible). Tons of stuff re wicked rulers that would work with Trump present and (on camera!) seething. Here are a couple: “Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees.” “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.”
Those passages would mean nothing to Trump, who clearly is not worried about Christian morality and would insist that the most unjust and wicked ruler of all time was Sleepy Joe Biden. Maybe if you did something about how rich people go to hell he might understand.
Perhaps so, but the bible is lousy with verses condemning the wicked. And, meaning nothing to Trump or not, it would all be happening in public during a major event. His ego would know it’s being shitted on.
Or, they are mourning the death of their leader, and are following protocol by inviting other heads of state. I’m sorry, but not everything is about the US all the time. Sometimes a funeral is just a funeral
How can anyone who has worked for a foreign ministry of defence ever be appointed as an official in another country’s security apparatus?
Oh, wait … yeah, this timeline.
@jerwin - those numbers add up to 81% (?) making ‘no religion’ (not cited on the table of religious affiliations) at 19% the largest single group. (Yeah - damned lies and statistics!)
