That was a powerful, and not a little scary, short farewell speech by Biden just now. He made direct warnings to us about the increasing oligarchy and its effects on freedom of speech (mentioning social media) and separation of powers of the government. Never mentioning the word “trump” but it was ever present. Which most of us here already are well aware of, but i’m glad he got it out to the country in general. Even promoted an 18 year limit on supreme court appointments. It was quite touching. …maybe too late, but quite moving.

President Joe Biden used his farewell address to the nation Wednesday to warn of an “oligarchy” of the ultra-wealthy taking root in the country and of a “tech-industrial complex” that is infringing on Americans’ rights and the future of democracy.
Speaking from the Oval Office as he prepares to hand over power Monday to President-elect Donald Trump, Biden sounded alarm over the accumulation of power and wealth among a small few.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead," Biden said, drawing attention to "a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a few ultra-wealthy people. Dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked.” …

Turner had previously publicly criticized President-elect Donald Trump calling his storage of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago “of grave concern.” During the campaign Turner, who represents Springfield, Ohio, told CNN that Trump’s claims that Haitian immigrants were eating dogs and cats were “tearing the community apart.”
The purge has begun. No one should be surprised.

I keep thinking about this line from the article regarding President Biden’s farewell address:

To those of us here, and indeed to almost everyone on the planet, that’s an unimaginable amount of money. In my deepest dreams of avarice (i.e., “shopping” on Zillow as if I had no budget limit) I find my version of a ludicrously oversized home and surrounding property tops out around $10M or so, at least in the Chicago area.
But I realize $100M is pocket change to musk. Estimates of his “per hour” earnings vary wildly, but even taking the rough estimate of $1.6M per hour (that’s around the clock), that’s slightly over 2 1/2 days. He’s able to buy a presidency for trump without even noticing the cost.
Not only was our country sold, it was at a price that’s literally nothing to the purchaser. The USA has been reduced to being worthless.
