Very arguably, but from another point of view that is accepting a fascist re-definition. First they change the meaning of a word, phrase or law. Later, they use force to change the meaning of what is and is not their country. Or their citizenry.

Yeah. I’ve always been suspicious of any reenactors of the WW2 axis powers, no matter how much they insist they’re just history enthusiasts and that every reenactment needs both sides.
I mean, I find reenacting modern wars strange and concerning anyway, but that’s another story.

It is not my intention to do so. The parallel is indeed valid in a way that in both cases abuse is exported to places where it can be facilitated with less resistance.

Reenactments can be fun. I knew a group of friends back in the 1980s who did Civil War reenactments, and they told me that the norm was you would start by playing a Confederate because most people don’t want to, so this was the only way to have equal numbers to do the reenactment events. Then, you can upgrade to the Union side after a certain amount of seniority. It was who chose to stay on the Confederate side long after they had the option to change that would be noticeable.

Totalitarians house their dissidents etc. outside of the imperial core. GULAGs were in Siberia, Gitmo is in Cuba, Transportation to Australia, Nauru Regional Processing Centre, Indian reservations etc.
We have saying around here “Siperia opettaa.”

Oh, when I say “modern wars” I meant 20th century. I see the appeal of recreating earlier time periods (even if I don’t particularly have any interest in the American Civil War, specifically)

Even within Transportation to Australia: Convicts were sent primarily to Botany Bay and Sydney, but if they got into trouble there, then they were re-transported to Port Arthur in what is now Tasmania.

The GOP solution to rape in Texas was to make reporting it dangerous and getting plan b impossible.
They like ran on campaign promises of ending rape and dobbs was their fix.
The GOP is just a mechanism with which to rape, torture, and kill as many US citizens as possible.
It’s the only thing they can deliver on.

The changes were approved by the GOP’s state executive committee Sunday. They state that while volunteers and “grassroots members” have the right to elect leaders at the county and congressional district level, those individuals “should be working in coordination to achieve the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s goals and mission.”
