The Nazification of America

“Treasonous” behaviour usually has a tight set of criminal punishments. Interesting word for an Attorney General to just put out there.

Yeah, it’s definitely a bad trajectory the AG et al. are setting up.
They are not subtle.
Am double-plus unloving this timeline.

Also: if they are arresting judges, they need to bottleneck or eliminate the “wrong” kind of spin on this news from going public.

Wondering how close they are to setting this up, how close to functioning:

I hope HRC is right that these actions seem to evince admin officials “grabbing power while they can,” flailing around willy nilly like in the knowledge that this shit cannot long stand, instead of in a more organized way. I do have some hope that their center cannot hold, since there may well not be one, and since most of them are incompetent nincompoops. :crossed_fingers: :grimacing:

I hold some slim hope that their nincompoopery will be their downfall.
There is and there will be even more intentional collateral damage.
Bad faith operators and grifters all around, so thick you can’t swing a dead rat around without hitting a’ one of 'em.

One of their semi-unstated goals is to prove all government is categorically bad under all circumstances. They aim to prove that to the American public ad infinitum. On that level, they are doing a solid job. Then when they stage the next Free and Fair Election® (assuming that such elections even happen any more) they can demonstrably point to the shambolic clusterfk they’ve created and say “see? sEe?11!1!!?!!? government really is bad!!!!1!!!”

I was going to crop out the branding on this image, but the demented juxtaposition of the content and the brand makes it more… uh… 1984ish.

This is a good thread, and a good reminder that anyone who succumbs to this way of thinking is part of the problem too:

Fucking hell.

As I understand it, she did absolutely nothing wrong, and it was a purely performative arrest. If “arrest” is even the right word.

On the one hand, horrible, on the other, I’m glad there are bystanders challenging ICE. I’ve already vowed to do the same if I ever see something like that happening in front of me, regardless of the consequences.

I’m still waiting for eventual news that some of these “brave men and women in law enforcement” are the pardoned January 6th insurrectionists, and that’s why they’re masked up. Not really necessary to explain any of it, but turning them into his personal Nazi goon squad would be very on-brand for Trump.

Good on the Guardian for this photo choice. Top story on the front page too.

Spring under fascism is wild. Lately, when the sun is out and the birds are chirping and everyone seems happy, I honestly feel like i must be losing my mind. My biggest fear in life these days is not that the ground will open or the sky will fall, but business as usual.
