The Nazification of America

Humanity is subsidy.

Then I can finally use this anecdote…

For one of my semi-improvised shows, I made the mistake of wearing boxers and it was noted by a couple audience members who then shared their awareness with me. Well, while I was known for the extreme amount of innuendo I could work into my performances, in this situation amusingly enough, I didn’t immediately understand whatever euphemism they used. But, the rule of improv is “Yes, and…” so I just went with it and riffed with them a bit before I suddenly realized, “Hey, wait a minute. The topic of discussion is my penis.”

What’s the thread idea?

“Nazism and Dick Jokes?”

There have been far worse thread ideas…

Silly dick jokes are a step up from news of modern-day Nazis. Sure we need to know that stuff, but let’s at least keep it classy with a few dick jokes, eh?

Paint him as a thug
We worship murder so much
It’s just that he ain’t killed enough
You wanna commit murder
But not end up in cuffs?
You gotta make it to the Premier League
A thousand murders plus :musical_note:

This mentality is very common in the police community right now. The Blue Lives Matter site is absolutely terrifying. Every single day it presents cops with a feed of every officer that has died in the line of duty in the whole country - all with much fanfare about their service and heroism. All the stories are true and all of them are reported in a neutral fashion, so it doesn’t come across as biased. It’s all in the curation of the material.

Being a cop is a scary job. They really do put their lives on the line. Suicide rates are very high. A lot of cops become adrenaline junkies because being hopped up all the time makes them feel in control.

That this lady’s class qualifies for “mental health hours” gives you a sense of how little real help police have in coping with the trauma they take on. The mental health that cops get is all a CYA for the management, who do not want suicides to land back in their laps. “We had her evaluated 3 weeks ago and the psychiatric evaluation said she was all good,” is the name of the game. Police officers know that if they do not pass psych evals that they will lose their identities jobs and pensions.

This narrative that they are the real victim, bolstered by the true stories of people who made the “ultimate sacrifice” feeds into this cycle of trauma, fear, and belief that they are not supported.

And, no doubt, contributes to the cycle of unwarranted police violence.

(I am willing to concede that sometimes they have to use force. I am not willing to concede there should be near this many “mistakes”.)

Innuendo and out the other, a master class in the disruptive bullshit needed when racing to the bottom:

It ABSOLUTELY does. Do you remember the teenager wearing a bikini who was at a pool party that got a little rowdy, and then cop took a roll on the ground and tackled her and was basically sitting on her back?

That officer had JUST come from a suicide. I’m not sure if the person actually committed suicide or if they talked the person down, but he was, by department policy, supposed to have been sent home. But you know, suck it up, real men don’t cry, no big deal bro. Until it’s a little girl getting hurt because his nerves are on a tripwire.

Hm. Wonder if that means they’re finally willing to distance from him.

I doubt it; I think it’s more “take him seriously but not literally” garbage.
