The Nazification of the World

One can only hope. But they have a lot of money to pump into far right parties, and the ears of all the social media companies. We have to stay vigilant.

Quakers?!? What the hell? And in England?? The way America’s going, I could see it happening here (unfortunately. )

Why is the rest of the world following our horrible example?

Yes, it reads as very American.

They broke open the front door without warning or ringing the bell first, searching the whole building and arresting six women attending the meeting in a hired room.

To me, that’s a bit harsh. Lots of people read Harry Potter before Rowling came out as a bigoted jerk. In fact, the kids who read from the beginning of the series are very much adults now. No point in insulting them for something they did as children. Also, plenty of adults enjoy ‘young adult’ fiction. They’re “real books” too…at least, the good ones.

You’re right. Putting all HP fans in the same basket as the reactionaries isn’t very cool. Even though I don’t like the books at all, especially since I’m not the target audience, I know they were important for kids.

I confess that I am prejudiced and that the encounters I had with fans of this universe deeply irritated me. Not everyone who read HP is reactionary and some can see the flaws in the books and the author’s character.

I was having a similar conversation with my brother this week. We were talking about how “roqueiros”, the local rock fans still think they are superior just because they listen to a style of music that most of the population doesn’t know about. To make matters worse, many of these rock fans have become the worst kind of conservatives, those who hate the poor and the culture of their own country.

That said, you can always separate the work from the artist who created it. But in the case of HP, I believe both are pretty bad.

Yeah, I agree. Rowling sucks, but there is nothing wrong with YA fiction…

And honestly, that’s fair enough, even outside of Rowling herself. Fandom is a weird thing…

It was never just about trans people.

Also:

There’s no more money in attacking trans people - we’re going where the billionaires are paying.

Transpeople are the Gateway to full nazism. A weak minority easy to target and strip of rights.

Sure we are living in the post shame era. Nowadays people left the fear and pudor of being stupid or just cruel.
