It bears mentioning that integral to the purchase was multiple family members of the Sandy Hook victims:
The Onion’s bid was backed by the families of eight victims of the school shooting and one first responder. It also will have an exclusive advertising deal with the gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety. CNN was first to report the humor web site had entered the bidding.
This furthers the notion that AJ has been hoist by his own petard.

KF has 15 part series of called Formulaic Objections about depositions where you can hear Infowars shooting themselves in foot again and again and again. Rumor has it that they hired outside help because of KF’s making fun of them so much that they didn’t want do it anymore.

Excerpt: After a judge on Thursday ordered an evidentiary hearing into *The Onion’*s winning bid to purchase Infowars, Alex Jones’ site resumed operations and claimed the sale has been blocked. But Onion CEO Ben Collins countered this in an update posted on Bluesky and X on Saturday, writing, “We left the hearing with clear next steps to complete the sale.” According to Collins, a court date has been set for a week from Monday, when the process is expected to be completed, and Infowars asked for permission to continue publishing in the meantime. “The long and short of it: We won the auction and — you’re not going to believe this — the previous InfoWars folks aren’t taking it well,” Collins wrote.

Alex Jones is increasingly acting like he thinks it won’t work out for The Onion:
As this odd situation played out, however, Infowars’ website came back online on Friday afternoon; soon after, Jones and his staff had also returned to Infowars‘ studios. Throughout Friday and Saturday morning, the site was full of stories preemptively declaring Jones’ victory over the Onion.
“I told you,” Jones crowed during a Friday night broadcast, back behind his usual desk. “If you want a fight, you got one.”

Hard to say. It really would suck to see Jones emerge stronger than ever because he’s got Musk and Tromp pulling for him/propping him up, as he also claims in that piece. It’s strange to me that lawyers for Musk can get involved in court proceedings for the sale at auction of property, a sale that Musk had nothing to with.
