We’ve been watching the little buggers all day.
They can fly.
Oh my gosh…
I was out cutting the grass trying to beat the heat and a storm, I always look down while running the death machine.
One of the baby mouses comes running across the lawn heading for the lawn mower.
I stop the mower before it gets under and then I start pushing it away, the little bugger chased the mower.
Finally I coaxed it back to the wood pile.
I was telling the story about finding them and feeding them and the person asked “you’re feeding them?”
Sure am, because they’re so darn cute.
We may regret creating a mouse commune but so far we don’t.
And the reason there are extra mice is because we brought in all the ferals.
This one went in for his glucose check, he’s up to 5 units insulin twice a day. He’s getting close to being managed but not quite there yet.
I’ll talk to the doctor later today.
He always gets a bath after a doctor visit because I’m nuts, he did not like the bandaid.
peace was never an option.
My daughter came home tonight, a little after 2am when the bars closed down, and told me she heard a kitten in distress somewhere in our neighborhood. And I’m not gonna leave my daughter out there alone in the night prowling people’s yards or whatever (which she was doing).
So that’s how at 2:30-3:00am, in the dead of night, we found ourselves underneath some stranger’s car, trying to coax a frightened kitten to come out. And just hoping that the owner didn’t come out freaked out that there were people under his car.
“No sir, we don’t care about the alytic convertor, we’re just here for the cat.”
So I guess now we have a new kitten now.
We woke up my wife and drafted her to write a note for the neighbor along the lines of “Please don’t worry if you have security cams and saw us out there. But please do check for any other kittens and honk your horn before you drive.”
Our own cats thought that was a very interesting event. And one of the neighborhood strays (who mostly lives on our porch) also tried to ‘help’ us. By following us over and headbutting and rubbing against us while we were underneath some stranger’s car in the middle of the night.
At least she/he’s safe for now. And with cat people equipped to deal with her. Instead of up inside somebody’s car’s wheel well or wherever they were (initially it was somewhere else up in there, but when it came out into the wheel well I was able to grab it).
Good humaning!
Only a very special person can earn the trust and friendship of a rabbit! Good on you!
