The wild animals that live among us

Yeh i lived pretty close to the beach in Venezuela and would see them all the time. We would dig them up but didn’t do anything to them beyond handle them for a bit (thankfully).

Whoa! Coming after the turtles posted by @Axolotl and @mindysan33 , my first thought about your pic was “What is that bunny doing on the seafloor???”.

The stonecrop and Japanese iris do look aquatic, but the crabgrass messes up the illusion.

Too quick to get better photos, but here’s a pair of red-bellied woodpeckers:

Are their bellies in their heads?!

we have those here, too. they do have light red breast feathers, as well as the more pronounced red heads!
and, as @gyrofrog says, they are very fast and seemingly camera shy.

Not as fast as the hummingbird that I surprised on my way out the front door. It paused long enough to complain about it & hovered away…

Red-bellied woodpeckers not to be confused with red-headed, which (I’ve read) do exist around here, but I’ve never seen one

The article doesn’t elaborate - a 7-day supply by whose definition?
