Agreed. My wife has a minivan for those purposes. My car is just for commuting to work. There’s also just the three of us, so it would work in a pinch anyway. I think there is/will be a market for an electric minivan. The Tesla X certainly fills that need, but it is also a luxury SUV, which is out of reach for many.

Exactly. An electric minivan-thingie with all wheel drive and not too many frills (I don’t really like much in the way of gadgets, in cars. I’m odd like that…) and I’d be pretty happy, I think. For “reasonable” money.
Wife has a “bigger” car than me (though still a regular station wagon…), so I need to be thinking about the new “family mobile” as the kids get bigger.
