I didn’t get a photo, but multiple electrical boxes exploded on my run. huge storm, power is out, parts of the neighborhood are on fire. Scariest moment of my life was when I was running, and a power line went down behind me, and one ahead.

Calming down with a candlelit LaCroix.

my apartments have many rosebushes, all in bloom now; the red ones particularly are crowded with blossoms. this orange-y one is more sparse but I think they’re the coolest

Very nice. The partner and I were just talking of putting in some rosebushes in the front yard where we just cant get the grass to work.

Roses need some sun; if you can’t get grass to grow, roses might be an even bigger challenge.

Plenty of sun, The grass not growing is more of I haven’t bothered to fix the area that was dug up when my sewer line was replaced.

I’m not a huge fan of grass, so I have no motivation to fix it. (At least that’s what I tell myself) But prepping the space for rose bushes might be enough to get me out there.

this guy hadn’t moved in the better part of an hour that I can personally confirm, but realistically he was probably there all afternoon.

I saw these weird tiny red tentacles emanating from the ground in an ephemeral pool. Not sure how to post video, so here it is on my twitter.

Someone else thought polychaete, but we’re a bit away from the sea. Maybe some sort of freshwater annelid? I wonder what they are. Will collect some.

I agree with Twitter user HereBeSpiders11. I think you’ve got some sludge or sewage worms, Tubifex tubifex.

I’m not even sure which one that is… we were getting out for infantdibulum’s belated second birthday. His actual second was spent with me at emergency vets. They both talk and sound fairly similar on one-offs.

The honeysuckle is out, and smells great. Unfortunately, it’s growing in a fence row with a lot of multiflora roses (ouch) and poison hemlock (itch), and possibly some wild grape (meh).

Edit, on further inspection, definitely yes on the wild grape.
