Scratch them harder, you will find a fascist…
That was refreshingly blunt.
This is the part that took me aback:
Mark Wingfield serves as executive director and publisher of Baptist News Global. He is the author of Honestly: Telling the Truth About the Bible and Ourselves and Why Churches Need to Talk About Sexuality. His brand-new book is Troubling the Truth and Other Tales from the News.
We need more evangelicals like this!
… I’d ask how you’d have to scratch them to find a decent person, but at that point we’d probably be talking about evisceration. /sarcasm
Beat me to it! I’m in the middle of watching it. I was going to post it when I’d finished. It could also go in the Steve Shives and Religion categories.

I hope one day they “thank” those abusive parents by cutting off all ties and leaving them to die alone and unloved, regretting being stupid and evil enough to have bought into the trans panic. The world needs to shun these bigots and show them there’s consequences for their behavior.
Some people are so proud of their abuse it’s sickening. They will never understand when their children go “no contact” on them. They don’t love their children, they love what they think their children are. (Yeah, I’m speaking from personal experience here.)
The rules package released by Speaker Johnson shows that transgender people are likely to be a top priority for Republicans in 2025.
In a new article, Richard Dawkins: - Says defending transgender people makes you part of a "trans cult" - Claims trans people adopt that identity as part of a fad - Spreads false/harmful propaganda about trans people abusing/recruiting children
Richard Dawkins is a first-rate asshat and a poster child for Dunning-Kruger effect.
Richard Dawkins
Oh do shut up, Richard.
There used to be a thing about listening to Dawkins when he’s talking about biology and not otherwise. I guess we’ve passed that now. This is biology, at least in part, and he’s butchered it to put bigotry first.
I have a biology book of his on my shelf, given as a gift many years ago. I had enjoyed it. I haven’t been sure what to do with it now, since I am unlikely to enjoy it again.
I couldn’t hold on to my Harry Potter books. The first time ever I put readable books into the recycling bin.
A federal court has ruled that Florida can detransition inmates. Some trans inmates are having estrogen pulled, hair shorn, and put through state-run conversion therapy. This is the cruelty of abandoning incarcerated trans people. The latest from...
Also on her blog:
Incarcerated transgender people were a major topic of debate in the 2024 elections. Now, a judge ruling on a Florida policy shows how cruel abandoning trans people in prison can be.
Similar to how Dogbert went into my trash can.
