I’m mildly surprised this website is still up and running.

I wonder how this will do. It seems like the people that aren’t boycotting because of TERF will boycott because of a black Snape.

It’s the Grauniad, where transphobia is applauded.

Yeah, and then that racism will get the blame, instead of Rowling being a TER, and then she’ll get all kinds of sympathy…

Sigh… yeah… :rage: :sob:

As an update, Planned Parenthood of Arizona has resumed their gender affirming care services; I suspect it’s because a lot of people screamed at them rather loudly, including lawyers and national-reach journalists.

I have a sudden urge to acquire more weapons. I’m sure that’s just a random thought on my part.

Pathetic. I’m so sorry the trans community have been thrown under the bus like this to appease bigots.

“But we counsel against reading this judgement as a triumph of one or more groups in our society at the expense of another, it is not,” he added, noting that trans people still have protection under the law.

But that is exactly what this is going to do, it’ll fuel more violence towards trans people and give more ammo to high profile bigots like Rowling.

I mean, the UK wasn’t on my list of places if I have to make the one-way trip out of the US, but that clenches it completely.

Also from the UK Supreme Court atrocity.

“The Court concludes that a lesbian “must be a [AFAB] female who is sexually oriented towards (or attracted to) [AFAB] females”. The Court concludes that female here cannot include trans women, as the “concept of sexual orientation”

Fuck you, I am a lesbian and a woman.

Why would they even need to define lesbian? The category for non-discrimination is sexual orientation. Doesn’t matter what kind of sexual orientation.

And do they make similar statements about trans men?

because a cis woman in a relationship with a trans woman is now heterosexual, and no longer in a protected category.

As for trans men, a lot of them are just finding out they are now lesbians, which will be very confusing for the ones in gay t4t relationships.

One may well ask: “How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?” The answer lies in the fact that there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that “an unjust law is no law at all.”

Now, what is the difference between the two? How does one determine whether a law is just or unjust? A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust. All segregation statutes are unjust because segregation distorts the soul and damages the personality. It gives the segregator a false sense of superiority and the segregated a false sense of inferiority.

Straight people are equally protected by non discrimination laws.

But they can be excluded from lesbian and gay only spaces, which is what this ruling is about.

I’m guessing restrooms are going to be included too.
