It’s also very important to note that the entire topic of “fairness in sports” is complete bullshit. It is utter nonsense. It is fabricated, counterfactual garbage.
Physical unfairness inundates sports at every level in the US. It is celebrated by the same people who whine the loudest about trans athletes. No one has ever championed short people because being tall is an unfair advantage in basketball. No one has ever championed slow people because being fast is an unfair advantage in track. Physical unfairness is the very essence of the objection every time a woman wants to play football (and it’s also full of shit).
If the people who whine about trans athletes actually gave a shit, they would also be talking about the structural unfairness of athletics at private schools vs public schools, but they don’t. They don’t actually care about fairness. It’s all just bigotry.
ETA: @womanhood_deferred oh, yep, there it is right in the article. It’s not about healthcare, it’s about whether trans people even exist.
This informs how I talk about it with people who maybe aren’t openly transphobic but who have been pulled in by the transphobic talking points. You can’t debate them with the facts about trans athletes and fairness, because that’s not actually what they care about. What works is getting them to agree trams people are people. what works if talking them around to recognize that trans women are women; that trans men are men. It is very difficult, but once you do everything else kinda falls into place.

Remember when Brianna Wu didn’t seem like nothing but garbage in the shape of a human, and yet now proudly announcing that she is to the world is her whole thing? Seems like that’s been happening a lot, people starting in on transphobia and then losing the ability to think about anything else. Maybe that deserves some closer scrutiny.

Maybe tradwife transsexuals. Even though a lot of older trans women (Myself included) admit that we only did that so we got treatment from the dinosaur gatekeepers.
Now that I think about it, I have joked that the universe was created in the early 1980s because I can’t remember anything before then. Maybe some people really think like that.
