Virginia governor say US must develop fusion or fall behind China on energy
NEW YORK, March 11 (Reuters) - The United States must expedite its development of fusion energy or risk falling behind China on energy dominance, said Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston on Tuesday.
Virginia is home to the world’s biggest hub of energy-hungry data centers, with about 70% of the world’s internet traffic routing through the state.

Actually, I think investing in fusion would be really sensible. The US government has the money to support science and even if it doesn’t end up giving us useful fusion energy any time soon, there can be all sorts of benefits from working on long-term problems like that. Commonwealth Fusion Systems announced in December that it planned the first utility-scale fusion power plant, which it would build in Virginia.
One of the really well-know Shark Tank pitches is for I Want to Draw a Cat For You. Recently, in the Shark Tank reddit, the founder of that company did an AMA. He said that Mark Cuban was surprisingly responsive to him by email, but that his advice wasn’t really all that valuable, since Mark is a billionaire and Steve is the kind of person who is hoping to make enough doing his own thing to make rent.
