This ain’t dumb. They have the basic ingredients as part of their manufacturing stock for cosmetics and they’re going to supply the French government for free.

“These gels will be delivered free of charge to the health authorities,” LVMH announced on Sunday.

(It makes sense on one level, addiction is a hell of a thing… but, still, manages to sound incredibly dumb when put into words)

It does seem to be a thing! Here in Belgium:

Good news for legalization, maybe. Of weed maybe. Or Portugese favored let’s-just-be-done-with-this decriming.

Doesn’t really matter here. Weed is technically illegal here but no one cares unless you’re holding sales amounts. Possession in the absence of other criminal activity is not allowed to be prosecuted. I got accosted for a train security check once when I had 30 grams in a baggie in my briefcase on my way back from .nl. The cop just flexed it to make sure there wasn’t anything inside it and sent me on my way. Harder drugs are almost always diverted into treatment programs rather than the legal system.

But the business is illegal, so mitigation efforts often end up tainted, legally, and getting shut down. Not to mention the scumbags in power who oppose even needle exchanges.

I’ve actually been concerned how this is affecting addicts. My dad was an alcoholic. I can’t imagine his he would cope without his fix. Fortunately his addiction was legal and considered “essential” business.

I’m tired of addicts not being treated as human. My dad never was going to get straight. He was addicted his whole adult life. Fuck AA. He needed alcohol. (I’m pretty sure he died from withdrawal symptoms when he was moved to a nursing home where it was difficult for him to access alcohol).

Right? None of us are perfect, all of us have failings… doesn’t mean we aren’t human.

Especially since much of that moralizing comes from folks sipping their fourth cappuccino of the day while Juuling into their sleeves.

Their addictions are okay. It’s others who have a problem.

Yeah no idea how people do their shoelaces up sometimes.

There was a reason Velcro was invented, and even then, some people can’t do up their shoes.

Soooo much dumb packed into one topic.

Brogan claimed that “there is potentially no such thing as the coronavirus” because “it’s not possible to prove that any given pathogen has induced death,” and that the rising death toll caused by the virus is “likely being accelerated by the fear [of the virus] itself.”

suggested that the news media is being controlled by an unnamed pro-vaccination group, and speculated that the U.S. government is planning “to link our passports with our vaccination records” and gain “totalitarian governmental control not unlike the divide-and-conquer dehumanization agendas that preceded the Holocaust.”

patients must disavow conventional Western medicine (which he claimed was a conspiracy orchestrated by the “Jewish chemo mafia”)

How can any being capable of thought, not realize that right now is exactly what it looks like when there’s no vaccine? I mean, there’s dumb, and then there’s nothing but the words we don’t use anymore.

Yeah, I saw it put well by someone a short while ago (no idea where I saw it, so from memory): “Hey anti-vaxxers, you wanted a world without any vaccines. This is what the world looks like without one vaccine.”
