Poppies in California:
I had to watch it again since youโve posted it a second time!
That jump from the box to the pond! wow.
Sort of the textbook example of a โleap of faithโ! I was worried about the last one, who kept trying to climb the back wall of the nest box, but then I was all โYay!โ when it made it.
It was totally worthy.
Clouded Leopards. Taxonomists say that, since they have no recognized subspecies, they are the only members of their kind. The adults meow and the youngest cubs chirp like baby chicks.
Super cute! Theyโre cuddlers with a most special pink nose. Boop!
And saber-tooth tiger teeth.
Eraser nose!
This raised questions, so today I learned that several species of pinnipeds, cetaceans and birds sleep with half of their brain while the other half remains awake and alert to conditions like nearby predators, oxygen levels and maintaining steady flight (yes, birds even sleep during long migratory flights!) However, it seems the only seals that can do this are eared seals like sea lions. Iโm not sure of the species but the one in the video looks like a โtrueโ seal (no ears), so maybe heโs just vibinโ down there rather than actually dozed off?
They can spend several days at sea foraging for food and even sleep underwater for up to 30 minutes at a time.
