Voices from Beyond the Badass Veil

if you lose your head
hang on to yourself, because
your heart will go on

Place my chair at the backroom door
Help me up
I can’t wait anymore
Blessed love
The love I’ve seen
Stair by idle stair
Faith one path & the second in fear
A half wit am I read

But squalor to turn on
Makes it harder
The more you love
Gladdening eyes
Through slur
Emerge crucified

I was sitting by the phone
I was waiting all alone
Baby by myself I sit and wait and wonder about you
It’s a dark and dreary night
Seems like nothing’s going right
Won’t you tell me honey how can I go on here without you?

This isn’t the outcome that I wanted or expected
I don’t’ recognize this place but I love the warm reception
Yet everything familiar like I’ve seen this place before
But my memory is convenient I forget what I should have known

I’ve been thinking about how my good intentions
Keep me turned around
I don’t know the road or the destination
But I think I’m about to find that out

There isn’t a last known place or time or said location
That I could recall that I could take form this like mis-direction
And everyone’s a suspect
Cuz you can’t all be my friends

Have I lost my intuition
Is it me or is it them?

I’ve been thinking how my good intentions
Keep me turned around
I don’t know the wrong or the destination
But I think I’m about to find that out
(to find that out)

Now my good intentions
Keep me turned around
I don’t know the road or the destination
But I think I’m about to find that out

Yeah my good intentions
Keep me turned around
I don’t know the road or the destination
But I think I’m about to find that out

well when you’re sitting there
in your silk upholstered chair
talkin’ to some book folk that you know

well I hope you won’t see me
in some headless company
well, you know i could never win this alone

take me down little Janie, take me down
i know you think you’re the queen of the underground

and you can
send me dead flowers every morning
send me dead flowers by the mail
send dead flowers to my offspring
and don’t forget to put roses on my grave

well when you’re sitting back
in your rose pink cadillac
making bets on kentucky derby day

ah, I’ll be in my basement room
in the dark, and the gloom
singing to make my
pain go away
