At this point, she is the mother of his child, so I imagine that brings a certain amount of loyalty with it.
My father was a massive asshole, but my mother loved him to his dying breath and beyond. I have to assume there’s something we don’t see, with my folks, with Gaiman and Palmer, and so many other couples that look really incongruous from the outside.
