Speaking of Yemen, this CNN article essentially blames people in Yemen and their use of khat for the food shortage issues plaguing the country, instead of, you know, the years long siege of the country by the US and the Saudis…

But it’s an addiction that’s being enabled by humanitarian aid. The Yemeni government recently estimated that the khat industry was worth about $12 billion to the country.
That happens to be about three times the amount that the UN says it needs to feed Yemen.
Translation: right now, they’re starving, so they have to depend on a stimulant to make it through the day. But if we starve them even more, I’m sure that will fix the problem.
Any excuse not to dismantle the empire…
