Although: given that the Berniecrats and DSA are pushing for policies that have broad majority support, while the Corporate Dems are promoting unpopular neoliberal bastardry, I’d say that the rise of the DemSoc faction is actually making the party less extreme.
I read it, it was actually not a terrible conversation between people that really only get the Overton Window range of conversation.
TL;DR the Democrats were always Republican light (modern era), they have not shifted further right while the Republicans have, their next generation voters are not interested in their current coasting position - especially since the Democrats are terrible at bold strategy and only repeat GOP strategies.
