I’m pretty sure anyone working in data-driven politics is paid to not understand things because by saying “I’ve never understood why Ds don’t make voting rights their platform” he is saying “the D’s platform is bad” which is accurate. You can read that tweet two ways: one where Nate Silver is a little cherub boy pondering the nature of the world, or a passive aggressive dig at the Democrats.
Reading their round tables it is the second. Don’t bite he hand that feeds you and all that.
