That sounds like the most boring class ever.

The students are repeating back to the teacher, over and over, that both milk and ink are opaque. I was generally a good student, and I think that even I would have resorted to snark after the second “What have we found of milk and ink?”

A lot of pedagogy of the day was based on repetition. I recently read skimmed over a 1890s textbook on textile manufacturing techniques, and it was clear that the material was designed to be memorized and repeated orally on demand.

But perhaps the demonstration had a sort of beauty, Easy to find out, if you have ink.

also, this may be from the days when students weren’t segregated by gradelevel.

Capitalism: You are one cow. But sometimes it makes a difference whether people use you for draft and for ghee, or if they use you for meat.

If she’s going to dogwhistle, why choose such a well-known and not-plausibly-deniable one like “1488?”

I can even see “88” ending up in a username through accident or ignorance (there are only so many two-digit numbers), but “1488” is only commonly used to refer to one thing.

If she’s going to be that open about her white nationalist sympathies, why does she even bother with the dogwhistle?

I can’t even “inspect element” on Twitter.

It’s bad enough when websites inflict migraines. It’s worse when they disable diagnostic tools making it harder to develop ways to read their sites without migraines.
