Thread:
War between which countries?
Obviously, the Korean Peninsula would be implicated, but they have a land border and don’t exactly need a Navy to keep them apart.
Japan would inevitably get pulled into any Korean conflict, but the South could probably repel the North even without their assistance (Seoul would be flattened, but that could happen today).
Is it China you’re worried about? I don’t see them instigating a war in Korea. If one broke out today, they’d certainly defend the North, but if the South were left to stand alone, with no Western assistance… I’m not so sure they’d bother to help in what would no longer be a proxy war.
I feel like there is a very generous assumption about China’s own imperialism in contrast to the United States’. China would 100% spend 70 years outside California if it could, and would at the first opportunity. I doubt war would break out, but without the US there the Chinese Navy would absolutely immediately fill the role in the Pacific - which isn’t better just different and more likely to lead to a rightward slide in the Western allied countries’ politics (which could lead to war breaking out). Declaring one option as better than the other is some crystal ball bullshit.
Now, declaring the military isolationist and not constantly blowing shit up all over the world while reducing it size can only be beneficial to world peace. Even then, we will immediately have troops that are brought back and replaced with other countries’ troops doing the same role - but none will have the financial backing and scope of the US military as it currently is.

Gestapo: Special Patriots Unit.
Copaganda. Probably with a side of McCarthyism.
And, of course, they made sure to put Black and Latina faces on the organisation that murdered Hampton.
