Notice the flurry of articles about plutocratic injustice and corporate bastardry on BB in the last couple of days?
The left is certainly promoting those stories as hard as it can, for obvious reasons. The bits of the right that are itching for a fight may be pushing them as well, in the hope of provoking the left.
I wonder if the BB publishers are voluntarily joining the effort, or if they’re just unknowing mirrors of the zeitgeist?
I know we agree more than we disagree, but my perspective is simple and obvious: the police will silence your protest, period. Your protest has a lifespan, and even documented sustained protest moving geography to avoid staying too long for the police to support is being shut down.
Until the police change at a people level, protest must be extremely organized and executing flash tactics that are spread well. Reacting to the right is easy, they get documents easier and they get hassled less. Just running a brown people voter registration will get counter protests and the police stepping in no time.
I never claimed it would be easy. It’s more that the alternatives are impossible.
The sort of protest I’m discussing is similar to what was seen in Argentina. It isn’t about changing hearts and minds, it’s aimed at paralysing the economy for as long as is necessary. A strike rather than a demonstration; the use of power, not just the threat of it.
(somewhat less mayhem and looting would be nice, but is probably an unrealistic hope)
And, yes, the police will respond with violence. If it’s just a small, isolated protest, it will be crushed.
That’s why it needs to be massive, persistent, determined and nationwide. Scale it up enough, and eventually they run out of riot cops.
Which is probably when they try to bring in the military, and shit gets real.
Ultimately, it does come down to standing in front of the guns and daring them to shoot you. That’s unavoidable unless you’re willing to shoot back.
This is a large part of why the involvement of the white middle class is essential. They won’t hesitate to shoot poor brown kids.
Nobody knows for sure, but it seems like there is at least a good chance that the military is sufficiently non-fascist that they won’t be willing to turn New York into Fallujah.

Trump is still pushing for a simple majority, but it makes him look incredibly incompetent. I hope he keeps asking for it publicly because his base is the only ones even willing to entertain the idea. Considering he has abandoned everything to shift to the center, Trump’s seemingly unintentional fascist days are turning toothless.
