We’re back up, but we were down for a little while because we ran out of storage. Sorry about that. I’ve been monitoring it, but thought that we had a bit more of a buffer that we apparently did.
The quick fix is that I’ve expanded the main storage, giving us approximately as much room to grow as we are currently using. In other words, there is enough storage to double the amount we are currently using. That should hopefully give me enough runway to resolve this in a more scalable and economical way.
On that. I’ve been working on something in the background to move everything to a new server, but it hasn’t come together yet. Rest assured that I’m still working on it as I can.

I had a moment of panic, NGL. As a non-USer, having read the news and scrolled through Bluesky I thought the worst.
So, SO happy it wasn’t.
THANK YOU!!
Thank you for sorting this out and your continuing work for the community.
Until I clicked off the banner in this topic, I was seeing it flash up (less than a second) on all topics I clicked.
Locke, please let us know if you need any assistance; monetary or otherwise.
Thank you for the offer. I’m trying to get things into a more stable place so that I can better predict what the costs will be. It may seem counterproductive, but it doesn’t make sense to me to have others subsidize the excess I’m spending to keep things afloat while I work things out. Once things are settled and we have some of the long promised upgrades in place, we can talk about which platform to use for monetary support.
Something that would be useful would be a backup admin on the technical side. Someone willing to learn how the site is set up and can step in when I’m unavailable. This is someone who would potentially have a lot of power over the site, so it’s not a decision/selection process I would approach lightly.
The two primary factors:
- I thought I would be done with the migration before now.
- I didn’t watch the delta on the storage closely enough.
- If I had been more proactive, this could have been a 15 minute scheduled downtime instead of a multi-hour unplanned outage.
I third @Melizmatic. Once you’re able to determine costs, please let us know how we can help.
Indeed.
Many thanks for bringing the place back. I really feel people are going to need this safe haven more than ever over the coming years.
This! (In fairness, i am less than useless on the tech front, but willing to pitch in what i can.)
I’m in as well.
The timing was scary!
Indeed. I was torn between DDOS and “shit, they came for us already!” Glad it was something more mundane. But the timing!
That could have been better for sure. I even checked on the storage last night, and decided “We’re probably good for a couple weeks…”
It’s like a smoke detector. The chirp that tells you the battery is low never goes off during the day, it’s always in the middle of the night.
