I read all of those I could get my hands on as a kid! Now there are board game versions of them with cards and dice. Then as I got a little older, the Lone Wolf and Freeway Warrior gamebooks took it up a notch.

One series that stood out in my memory was the Be An Interplanetary Spy! books. They were heavily illustrated, full of puzzles, and looked so futuristic/modern with their mix of comic-book style and pixelated video game style.

This is more than interesting, this is amazing.

When I first discovered this map today, I thought it was simply a highly-detailed track map. Then I noticed the arrow icons. This shows the location of every Amtrak train!

Are you familiar with the Youtube live train cams? The Virtual Railfan offerings are quite excellent. I am particularly fond of the one at San Juan Capistrano in California, one of the prettiest railroad stations there is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXqx56hlpd4 Rainy there todayā€¦

Waiting to see if it turns into anything. Threads I start often die fast because they arenā€™t of interest to anyone but a couple of people. So far itā€™s just a vaguely kind-of-interesting thing.
