I read all of those I could get my hands on as a kid! Now there are board game versions of them with cards and dice. Then as I got a little older, the Lone Wolf and Freeway Warrior gamebooks took it up a notch.
One series that stood out in my memory was the Be An Interplanetary Spy! books. They were heavily illustrated, full of puzzles, and looked so futuristic/modern with their mix of comic-book style and pixelated video game style.

Just seeing that picture will keep me from sleeping tonight. I canāt imaging having that crawling around the house.
Sorry about that. I thought the double portrait hilarious.

This is more than interesting, this is amazing.
When I first discovered this map today, I thought it was simply a highly-detailed track map. Then I noticed the arrow icons. This shows the location of every Amtrak train!

In. Value. Able.
Is your interest as a railfan or an Amtrak user, or just interested in the tech?
Yes, yes and yes.
Are you familiar with the Youtube live train cams? The Virtual Railfan offerings are quite excellent. I am particularly fond of the one at San Juan Capistrano in California, one of the prettiest railroad stations there is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXqx56hlpd4 Rainy there todayā¦
There is also a live train tracker for Metrolink (commuter rail) in SoCal: https://metrolinktrains.com/train-status/train_tracker/wheres-my-train-map-view/
I have more but I donāt want this to degenerate into RailFans R Us!
If only there were a way to start a new, dedicated thread on this forumā¦
Waiting to see if it turns into anything. Threads I start often die fast because they arenāt of interest to anyone but a couple of people. So far itās just a vaguely kind-of-interesting thing.
yeah, but if it turns into anything, youāll need to involve a mod to split off the posts into a new thread.
If we get started posting favorite railfan vids, I can go for a very long time. Very. (Some from when I was there, out of frame.)
I will visit your links, but on-the-whole I would rather be on a train instead of watching it.
