And in the course of the day while I was away from a computer, it seems they corrected the headline because they had it backwards: they said ‘lactose intolerance’ instead of ‘lactose tolerance’. I tried to contact them, but couldn’t figure out how to do so.
edited to add: I see @jerwin has helped out in my absence…thanks!
I’ve read it, and “Take Another Piece of My Heart” as well. I wrote to her about the problems I was having with my son, similar to those she had with her son, and she sent me a postcard with a personal message on it - real stuff. And it was addressed to “Miss Lucy”.
But there’s a lot of stuff on which I don’t agree with her.
You see these wild ideas people are having about antifa, but pulling them togetherness like this, you can absolutely see the parallels. To me, this isn’t a thread about mocking those ideas, but in seeing how much our underlying stories don’t change, even as we toy with the cosmetics. How easily we fall back into the “old” beliefs that we claim to have left behind. How deeply the rituals of our ancestors have pervaded present culture. How in times of rapid upheaval, we return to familiar explanations from the past when we can’t deal with the reality.
Yes, “we”. I am talking about this in human terms. Humans cope through stories, narratives and psuedo-explanations. Yes, even those of us who think we are “rational” and beyond such “ridiculous” needs for supernatural explanations. You’re just telling yourself a different story.
Do you want to know exactly how rude you are being to British people? it turns out that there has been research into just how offensive the public finds various words, gestures and so on. It turns out that there are a lot more than seven dirty words to choose from.
