His description of Woody Allen sounds a little too much like me.
That was for sure interesting, but I don’t know what to take away from that. I watched and listened to it twice, and I still don’t know what to make of it.
I half felt like maybe I understood, about halfway through the second listen, but then … then they kept talking and I didn’t anymore.
Seems pretty fundamental - acceptance and authenticity, but also like they’re trying to get at something deeper, and I’m just not catching that part.
What I took away, in no particular order:
How being nice to others can hurt you.
Acknowledging and taking care of one’s own needs before taking care of others’.
Not ignoring or rationalizing the signs of inner stress in order to prevent physical illness.
How not to ignore the signs of inner stress.
How caring for yourself doesn’t mean you’re a bad, selfish human being.
I’ve been in it. Except for the submarine-style doorway to the bathroom, I loved it. I wish I could live in one on a semi-secluded lot somewhere.
And to go get groceries:
I prefer this one, but mostly cos it’s more local. There’s one at either the Henry Ford or at the Detroit Historical Museum.
Not sure which one is more ugly beautiful.
