Well this is interesting

The article says two recessive genes are required to result in the pattern. If breeders start messing around breeding these cats, what other traits will accompany the coat color?

Munchkin cats, with very short legs, need one dominant gene from one parent to have the trait. If two munchkin cats are bred, the kittens are nonviable. I wonder what other bad traits live munchkins have? Other than not being able to leap away from predators that is.

This is one of the reasons I think breeding cats for no other reason than to create a new marketable product should be outlawed.

Well, it is a salt. The one you use when NaCl isn’t salty enough.

I’m watching this…and looked up W. Averell Harriman, and he and I have the same date of birth.

I wonder if trump is planning on selling off the Smithsonian Institution? I mean, I don’t think he’s going to pull a Hitler and burn everything but have an auction instead.

Ugh… fucking probably… :rage: Either that or turn it into a MAGA institution.

One would think that all of his decisions and threats that affect so many departments and institutions (read: buildings) would draw him out into the open. But no such luck.

Reminds me of the alpine Edelweiß If anything. (No idea whether that’s a sunflower as well.)

Edelweiß is what first came to my mind, too, also.

It’s not creepy! Fuzzy isn’t creepy! Fuzzy plants are wonderful!

Honestly I think calling it a “sunflower” is reaching. It’s a member of the Asteraceae which is called the aster or sunflower family, but that includes thousands of species as varied as marigolds, lettuces, sagebrush, and ragweeds. This new one and edelweiss are both somewhere in there but in different tribes.

What’s cool is the reporter who wrote that story is named after an Asteraceae, the daisy

Reminds me of some succulents, too.

A few of the Asteraceae are succulents too.

My favorite-est succulent is the S African Lithops (stone-like), the “living stones” houseplant.

Ppl tend to overwater, then one day the little plant’s gone. It’s gone b/c it’s exploded from too much water!

They’re truly wonderful little creatures. They feel really neat to the touch, too.

And Superman would never offer creepy gifts—especially to Lois Lane. (“The Wedding of Superman” episode)
