Whatcha Watchin'?

Obvs the movie isn’t out, but this trailer for Snow White… no es bueno. The overly generic way the trailer is put together also seems like a pretty big red flag for me.

Here’s something I’m never going to watch…

So, this isn’t really regular watching, but in the youtube liminal space, I think Hank Green’s been on a roll lately:

Great videos, covering heavy dense currently relevant topics, then doing Connections in the most hilarious way… always great to see how other people work through that often ridiculous puzzle (middle video is basically a Cyber Monday pitch at the end, sorry).

Wow. Those animals look faker than the ones in Mary Poppins.

(Of course, the robin was supposed to look fake in that movie.)

FYI, we have a whole vlogbrothers thread, and you can also post Hank’s vids there, if you’d like…

Indeed.

So sad Mr. Satoshi Kon had left us so early.

Hey, @LockeCJ… why is there no reply to @Lucy_Gothro1’s post right above me? Where the reply button normally is, it just says “edit this post”?

In case it goes away… Here is what I’m seeing…

image

@Lucy_Gothro1 - I’m actually a little miffed at Stewart right now, as someone posted an article where he was saying that “it might not get that bad under Trump, so we should give him a chance…” Normally, I enjoy the Weekly show, though. I’m just… not happy with that take, from a rather wealthy and powerful dude who isn’t directly in the line of fire…

Because it’s not a post. Somehow, it’s a wiki.

(The reply function is still there, with the curly arrow, it’s just in a different place.)

That’s on me…I hit the wrench icon while not being in the moment and thought I’d clicked on the Edit icon (which confused me at first, as it’s slightly difference in appearance now).

I have since resolved the issue.

@mindysan33 I got pissed off at him when on this past Monday’s show he put down Biden for changing his mind and pardoning Hunter. Like, okay if it were just some regular person who Biden knew but wasn’t a relative, that might be different. But H is the only son he has left, and his paternal instinct (i’m presuming) is to protect that son.

I agree about the Hunter pardon… I think paternal instincts played a role, but I think it’s also about Trump doing the thing he keeps accusing the Democrats of doing, which is weaponizing the legal system to go after his enemies. Although he promised to do that with Clinton back during his first term, he seems to be angling to put people in place to make that happen (Patel, Hegseth, etc).

Watched this last night… Here’s the trailer…

It’s free on Youtube, Tubi, or the Roku channel (where we watched it, with ads). It was absolutely fantastic, as long as you don’t mind highly cartoonish violence. And I mean cartoonish! Think Buster Keaton meets Loony Tunes kind of violence…

That guy should win an Oscar just for being shirtless in the snow for so long.

Funniest goddamn black and white cardboard cut-out set movie I’ve seen since Forbidden Zone

Hands down movie of the year!

Thanks, well done stuff. If the maker is angling for funding for a feature-length version, I’d watch the result.

It is a remarkable film, for sure! Just flat out funny, a pleasure to watch, with great music, etc… The costumes are fantastic…

Mentioned to my kids in the family text thread, and got this back immediately from one of them:

Omg I saw it in theaters during press release where the main guy cartwheeled in in a beaver fursuit and gave (friend) and me free beer
In the middle of the movie
It’s so good

So, it is clear that I must watch it ASAP!

I’m a little jealous that they saw that in a theater!!! Sounds amazing!

We watched Run Lola Run, which I saw like, 20 years ago. Still holds up, lots of fun!
