Those machines do make a passable hot chocolate for cold days at work.
Uh, yeah, I don’t drink coffee. Though the video was still rather interesting.

I hate how pods have taken over the grocery aisles and displaced a large fraction of the whole bean coffee. I hate how coffee bags are designed with subtle graphics that make it really difficult to discern whole bean from preground stuff, especially with fogged up glasses.
I have a lever espresso maker– I recently ordered the additional parts to see if my grinder is good enough to leave pressurized portafilters behind.
I have one of those whatchacallits…um…a moka pot. It makes some goooooooooooood stuff.
PREACH. the pod-based coffee fad can’t die soon enough for me. gimme whole bean, let me grind it myself. hell, in a pinch, i’ll even take pre-ground. but it drives me insane how whole bean is getting so hard to find.
Verruh nice!
It kinda fools one into thinking it’s actual cream, if one is so inclined. I have a French press, too. My son even got me a Mr. Coffee bean-grinder for Mother’s Day a few years ago.
But I’m so lazy I’ve not bought beans in a while, though my bro. has given me some…I think Xmas was the last occasion, yeah, 5 lbs. of a blend whose name I can’t remember, but I liked it. From Costco.
That was really good. So interesting to get the cultural context of what it was like back then. And crazy how he went from broke and busking on the street to making so much more money way back then, despite all the barriers, than most of us make now, even before adjusting for inflation! And he just kept going and going, and giving back to the community right up to the end.
I’m sure, though, that he suffered a lot; but even then, he just did what he felt he had to do.
“I don’t usually wear floor length during the day…”
i’ll have to remember that line.
Earlier this week:
At the risk of seeming stuck in a rut (aside from The Thing, of course) this is kind of a heist film? Or at least some of the characters seem to think it is.
…actually, I guess The Thing is sort of a heist film if you look at it from the "thing"s side.
And tonight… uh…
Oh, dear, I am in a rut, aren’t I?
Gordon Parks’ poetic reminiscence in (his) pictures, poetry, prose, and music. With narrations/readings by Parks himself, Avery Brooks, Roscoe Lee Browne, and Joe Seneca. Highly recommended.
This was cool:
The Italian and Qatari high jumpers tied and were offered a jump off. The Qatari asked if there could be two Gold medals, and they said yes.
their reaction is incredible. definitely a highlight (if not THE highlight) of the games, at least so far. talk about good sportsmanship.
