To be completely honest, I had a couple of micronaps in the middle. That probably helped
I had a music teacher who loved Wagnerian opera. But he was upset at himself for always dozing off during them. Eventually he began to accept that waking up and finding himself in an opera house during performance was simply part of the experience, and was in fact what made the experience special.
After the Acolyte, my appetite for new Star Wars content was seriously diminished. I donāt know why theyāre making this garbage instead of more stuff like Andor. Or a season 2 of Andor (I assume thatās being worked on, but it feels like years since season 1).
What Iād really like to see is some Old Republic content. Since none of those stories have made it into tv or film, they could do almost anything they want. Instead, theyāre trying to shoehorn in these stories that take place during the time of the Skywalker Saga, and it really limits what they can do. Theyāve had two really good series come out of that (Andor and the Mandalorian) but the rest has been meh to awful.
i enjoyed the Acolyte, but i think maybe they were trying to be too clever with it. Andor season 2 is starting in March or April of 2025, i believe.
Man i forgot about Tokyo Godfathers. I would describe it as a masterpiece.
Wow, this really distills it! Thereās also a weird local media reality where local TV news reports on the minutiae of one tiny, wealthy corner of a huge metropolitan area. Regularly.
Regardless, the kid is enjoying it, in all its cheesy glory, so weāll finish it out.
Weāre two episodes in on Get Millie Black, and eagerly await the next installment (old school: once a week).
Itās a police procedural, technically, but so well written and acted and complex. Set in Jamaica.
Saw Moana 2 this weekend, and while apparently itās broken a lot of box office records I canāt say that I recommend it. The story felt very much like a pointless rehash of the original and the songs were far less fun and memorable than last time.
They even rub it in in the after-credits scene where Tamatoa (the crab who sung my favorite song Shiny in the first film) makes a brief cameo and mentions that he has a new song, Funky Crab Legs, but itās just a moment of silliness that made me wish he really did have a song that was on-par with Shiny.
Obvs the movie isnāt out, but this trailer for Snow Whiteā¦ no es bueno. The overly generic way the trailer is put together also seems like a pretty big red flag for me.
So, this isnāt really regular watching, but in the youtube liminal space, I think Hank Greenās been on a roll lately:
Great videos, covering heavy dense currently relevant topics, then doing Connections in the most hilarious wayā¦ always great to see how other people work through that often ridiculous puzzle (middle video is basically a Cyber Monday pitch at the end, sorry).
Wow. Those animals look faker than the ones in Mary Poppins.
(Of course, the robin was supposed to look fake in that movie.)
FYI, we have a whole vlogbrothers thread, and you can also post Hankās vids there, if youād likeā¦
Just got done with āThe Ice Stormā (1997). Now, this:
ā¦which should be in whatcha listening to, lol.
Hey, @LockeCJā¦ why is there no reply to @Lucy_Gothro1ās post right above me? Where the reply button normally is, it just says āedit this postā?
In case it goes awayā¦ Here is what Iām seeingā¦
@Lucy_Gothro1 - Iām actually a little miffed at Stewart right now, as someone posted an article where he was saying that āit might not get that bad under Trump, so we should give him a chanceā¦ā Normally, I enjoy the Weekly show, though. Iām justā¦ not happy with that take, from a rather wealthy and powerful dude who isnāt directly in the line of fireā¦
Because itās not a post. Somehow, itās a wiki.
(The reply function is still there, with the curly arrow, itās just in a different place.)
