I watched this show as a kid…
Oh my gosh. Totally forgot about that show!
I’ll give a different perspective. I have also never read the books. I really enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. I have heard that fans of the books didn’t so much, especially season 1. I couldn’t get into season 3 and I quit watching after 2 or 3 episodes. If I am typical of people who didn’t read the books, that might explain the cancellation. Or, it could just be that it was an expensive series to produce. Probably that last one, but who knows?
Well, I had ninety minutes this evening that I wasn’t really using, so I searched for an action movie.
Much as I like John Cena as a human, especially after his Dem Ads for telly and that silly Patriot (shiny weird helmet, can’t be arsed to google?) series, the recommendation came up with:
Oh, thirty seconds in, the titles tell me it’s a WWE film. I’ve never watched the wrestling, so okay, should be fun.
Wow. What a concept.
12 rounds of brain-on-vacation 'splosions and action and enough wrestling cliche references to satiate a starving badger.
Oh, dear Dog, I needed that laugh this evening, I really did.
If you, too, need a good belly-laugh, I’d recommend some Laurel and Hardy, or anything besides this utter tosh.
Loved it. 5 stars.
We (re)watched this last night…
I had forgotten a lot about it… that it was directed by Michael Moore (who makes a brief appearance), that Radio Raheem is in it…
Also… everybody who makes a cameo… Alan Alda as president… Great stuff!
It’s free (with commercials) on Tubi…
We also saw this on Friday (also on Tubi)…
Doug Jones!
Ah, thanks for the reminder!
I’ve heard so much about Canadian Bacon and it’s one of those films I never got around to watching.
Yet.
It’s a fun movie! In addition to it being on Tubi, it’s likely other places, too, for renting digitally.
I second all of that. As a big Stan of Murderbot I was excited and a bit worried. Skarsgård looks dead wrong for Murderbot for me. But he’s a fantastic actor and sells it totally.
When it was announced I thought they could totally have some fun with the terrible TV it watches and how it fits into the story and they did.
Peacemaker. It’s funny. I just rewatched the first season to remind myself of the characters and general style of the show. Apparently there’s a second season coming in August.
There’s an Irish movie with the same theme; trying to get a body home for burial with many mishaps along the way.
ETA one of the main characters is autistic, played by a neurotypical actor; I can’t address whether or not the portrayal is accurate or not.
“If you want to say something, use words!!”
“Father, you can´t listen to my silence.”
Ito is a schoolgirl from a small town in a rural area of Japan. She is an accomplished shamisen player, but she is also so shy she can´t even talk to her classmates or play the traditional instrument anymore. One day she decides to take a part time job in a maid café in the capital of her Prefecture. The pay is ok, but she wanted to meet people and find her own voice.
Recommended.
That was it, thanks. I really enjoyed the first series, glad to hear they’re doing more.
Thank you. I Will check it out.
I haven’t seen the Lilo & Stitch live action remake, but apparently there’s a pretty egregious change at the end of the movie. I didn’t intend to watch it in the first place but after hearing/reading some comments from an online friend on a Discord server i looked up reviews about the movie. This one in particular caught my eye. Blurring the URL on the off chance people here want to avoid spoilers.
In other words, the Live Action Lilo and Stitch movie is very much like the Live Action Mulan. It’s beat-for-beat slavish to its original in every way except for every way which made the original meaningful and special.
The only one i saw was Beauty & The Beast and i quickly realized these movies would never be interesting to me. It seems like a masturbatory exercise in digging up people’s nostalgia with the added bonus of refreshing their IP/copyright while they’re at it, a drunken necromancer would be less clumsy.
Mickey 17 is now on HBO, so I’m watching it now.
