Who Sang it Better?

Huh. I didn’t know that was originally a Stevie Wonder song.

Much as I love Weird Al, I have to say that Stevie did it best.

… and possibly add Marianne Faithfull. Maybe for Alabama Song, add Nina Hagen (lots of versions there, from High Camp to fairly serious).

I always prefer the high camp versions of Alabama Song

Then Nina is your lady. No one is as OTT, and no one pulls it off as well as she does.

Wow, that’s hauntingly beautiful. Not at all what I expected when I saw the name Kylie Minogue.

Your Stones version seems to be missing something (like Jagger, maybe?)…

I always vote for Lene Lovich if she’s an option, but Toni Basil was awesome there.

Question: what’s the name of that Lene Lovich song where the refrain is “do you have [something] in Ohio?”

That guy with the guitar and spiked hair in the Toni Basil video also appeared in the Devo “Satisfaction” video.

I had not noticed that before. I know Toni recorded that when she and Gerry were dating, so friend of a friend perhaps?

I did not know that. Interesting.

And I wonder who that guy is. I had no idea he appeared in anything else. One of those underground tallents.
