Merneith - Regent of Egypt during the First Dynasty, ca. 2965 BCE, after her husband King Djet passed and while their son King Den grew up. Djet was only the fourth king of a newly-unified Egypt.

Sobekneferu - Ruled as the last king of the 12th Dynasty after her brother, Amenemhat IV died without an heir. Part of a statue shows her wearing a king’s kilt over a queen’s gown, with a king’s dagger in the belt. She used feminized forms of the traditional kings’ titles - The Female Horus, Lady of the Two Lands, ('steada Lord of the Two Lands) ferinstance.
