EU lays groundwork for building deportation centres in distant countries
The new regulation on deportations represents the first tangible result of the outsourcing trend that EU leaders endorsed last year.
I guessed wrong: I thought the noises from the US would encourage Greenland to pull closer to Denmark - NATO, etc. Looks like they have other ideas about how to manage (hardly surprising - I’m not a professional diplomat or politician).
The outcome doesn’t seem as clear as the article says. According to the wikipedia articles on the various parties, Demokraatit are the least forceful of the pro-independence parties, while the other winners in the election Naleraq, are pro immediate independence.
So the public seem to be split, with some saying faster, but most saying slower than the previous governing parties. There’s certainly no pro-US majority.
That part is no surprise at all.
Bolsonaro says He is an informant and begs for an American intervention. He confesses to “passing” information to “Trump’s team” and states that “Brazil’s problem must be resolved with support from abroad”
That sounds a lot like treason to me. Like, helping someone invade your country is a capital crime in many places, I’m sure
I can imagine Tramp trying to rescue him, a la the Tate bros. Much bigger deal of course, but I wouldn’t put it past him to try, damn the consequences.
From now on, tihngs can be different.
But Brazil has confiscated his passport. I don’t see how he gets out to a nice retirement at Mara-La-go.
And the Taters weren’t trying to overthrow Romania. And Brazil is about 10 times bigger than Romania- a bit harder to pressure.
It’s a much bigger lift.
Brazil does not have the death penalty, except If/when our country is at war, in which case, military crimes and treason, for example, can be punished by death by firing squad.
He is being investigated for several crimes, including smuggling, embezzlement and theft of public property. The investigation is well advanced and he is desperate. Unfortunately for him, Latin America is not a priority for Mr. Trump, as Mr. Milei has already realized.
Yes, as I said, a “much bigger deal of course.”

I wouldn’t put it past him.
No one has the power or guts to stop us, right?
