Very interested to see who the next Pope is. I really enjoyed Francis. Belonged to an order that believed in helping people more, so he actually walked the walk a bit more. While not enough, was willing to listen to other religions and even somewhat was flexible on LGBT+ issues. It was fun to listen to my inlaws, who are pretty heavy duty Christians, try to fit his world views into theirs.

Looks like of the favorites, 2 are more liberal and 3 are more conservative, with one of the liberals being the betting odds favorite. But Francis wasn’t in the mix this last time so who knows.

Yup. A Canadian friend had to cross the border for work on the Easter long weekend, which would usually be a 2 hour wait in the traffic jam. This year, he sailed through in under 5 minutes.

According to assorted online sources, tourism accounted for about 2 trillion dollars of the US GDP in 2022.
A big chunk of that has already evaporated.

I can’t imagine anyone really wanting to visit here right now. I mean, we deported backpackers the other day, for gosh sakes.

My wife’s demanding we get away on vacation this summer and it’s stressing me out. Worry that the plane might have issues since we’re seeing that more than usual and then concern about us getting back in the country as we’re brown.

Until now, I’ve never delved into the question of (nor have I cared about) who would be the next Pope. Based on the little shown in the link, and if only offered two choices, I’d prefer Tagle.

Catholic League is what, two people?

ETA: Not being sarcastic. I mean it literally.

It’s a single organization.

By pure coincidence, Eastern Europe is not generally considered to be primo territory for tourism.

It’s the crank Bill Donohue who defends sexual abuse by priests and a handful of other people (if any).

Yep. Any bets on how MTG will react? Whatever the outcome, it’ll be an interesting thing to watch.

Is MTG Catholic? I’m assuming not.

But battle of the cranks is going to be interesting. I wonder who’s going to go lowest.

She is not, but she was. She left due to the sex abuse scandal… Which is… actually understandable. But she seems fine with other groups that have such scandals… namely those in her cult.

I don’t think she attends still, but she ended up getting baptized at my sister’s church (which is a mega church north of ATL)…

As long as it helps cause dissension in the maga coalition- I don’t care if there’s no people in the org.
