Throughout history, this miscegenation has been described as the greatest attribute of âBraziliannessâ and has given rise to myths that Brazil was a country of âracial democracy,â where three races (Black, white, and Indigenous) coexisted in peace and harmony. Although it is not the central focus of the study, the findings of the team that worked on it help dismantle this idea and reveal the extent to which this mix was, for a long time, the result of violence. For example, the vast majority of Y chromosome (male) lines are of European descent (71%), while the majority of mitochondrial (female) lines are of African (42%) or Indigenous (35%) origin. âThis pattern is likely the result of a historical asymmetrical union between European men and Indigenous and African women,â the study says, referring to the rape of women from these communities by colonizers and the higher mortality rate among enslaved men and Indigenous peoples.
âRegrets the inconvenienceâ??? Would someone getting hit be âwhoops, our badâ?
âWhoops, our badâ is more-or-less the response when they accidentally precision missile strike multiple vehicles in an aid convoy, so⊠yeah, probably.
Mr. Milei calls tax evaders âheroesâ and says those who âfollowed all the rulesâ lack âtalentâ.
The Argentine presidentâs statement was made during an interview for a television program, while defending his project that aims to relax tax rules so that Argentines can use their undeclared dollars.Milei said that those who âtried to protect themselves from thieving politicians are heroesâ and âthose who followed all the rules [âŠ] perhaps did not have the talent or courage to get out of the system.â
âIf everyone had managed to do the same [evade taxes], perhaps politicians would have stopped stealing from us,â he said.
Man, He IS the President. If He isnât the system itself, I wonder who could be.
WTF⊠not helpful, dipshits.
Iâm curious as to what makes this controversial. Here in the US, you have six months to find a new job or change your visa type (for example, to a resident visa) in order to stay.
As an immigrant myself and previously subject to those requirements, it definitely had me looking to ensure I didnât put my job at risk and be forced into a situation where that six-month clock was running, but I donât think that, for example, if the time had been one year instead of six months that I would have felt any differently.
I know the default proposed is three months with a six month option for some definition of âskilledâ work, but I also assume that unlike the US (and more like Canada) Finland would have a half-decent support infrastructure in place for finding jobs. Iâm guessing thereâs a cultural element here that Iâm overlooking.
