This reads like another action/statement from those in a weak position trying to bully their opponents into submission - more performing for the press, the GOP base, and pro-authoritarians in Brazil.

“Justice Alexandre de Moraes does not have and has never had assets, money, or any property in the United States,” the Court said in a statement.

What other sanctions could he mean?

Maybe prevent him from entering the United States.

I think this kind of thing is for Brazilian consumption. These American congressmen usually receive the visit of the most picturesque things the Brazilian Congress has to offer and they are always boasting that they have full access to the corridors of power in Washington. For the average reactionary Brazilian, this is true, even if it is a lie.

To this day, Mr. Bolsonaro is still waiting for Mr. Trump to visit. His most brilliant son is always boasting that soon the full power of the American government will be brought down upon the communists who are destroying everything that is most beautiful that we have here. Just wait another 72 hours, don’t lose faith…

In a sane world It would be considered treason.

Trump suggested Argentina should invade Chile to get access to two oceans, says Mr. Macri, the former Argentine president. Mr. Macri made the statement during a forum in Spain; he linked the speech to other statements made by the Republican about annexations

“He said it half seriously, half jokingly,” the former Argentine president said, smiling as he told the story. “Then as the years went by, we heard about Canada, Greenland, that kind of thing sounds familiar,” he said, referring to Trump’s threats to annex the northern US country and the autonomous Danish territory.

As if that were easy.

He just assumes big countries have the power and so right to take over their smaller neighbors. That Russia has actually been having a miserable time in Ukraine has made no impression on him, and I’m sure anything further back would matter even less.
