Chappie was designed specifically to aid in the detection of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear materials (CBRN). It’s outfitted with special sensors that help it detect dangerous materials. But Chappie is remarkable in another way—it’s the product of one Airman’s idea and not the result of a 10-year development cycle between the Pentagon and private industry.

CBRN Chappie?
I prefer the ABC Warriors and Joe Pineapples.
From the 2000AD comic strip about a dirty dozen of robot soldiers, where ABC stands for Atomic, Biological and Chemical. ABC covers the same categories as CBRN, but is shorter and snappier.
I jest of course, but I do wonder if the hawks who came up with CBRN actually wanted ABC, but then discovered 2000AD had prior art?
ABC was the term used by a number of armed forces.
In the US Army the term NBC was used up until around 2003 when the term CBRN came into vogue. Back in WW2 the term gas warfare was used
Yup.
Atomar - Biologisch - Chemisch came up quite often during training.
I was just saying to friend of mine that WWIII won’t be that bad we won’t have full NBC/ABC war.
You mean all my training was for nothing?
I did learn how to wash a truck quickly. Saved a ton of time on Sunday afternoons.
Decontaminate!
I went to the former Regierungsbunker at Marienthal the other day:

This is where the West German Government would have holed up in the event.
Or not. The West German Government also owned part of a hotel in Miami Beach and one of the contingency plans was to fly the top echelon out to Florida. There even was a stretch of Autobahn near Bonn that could been converted into an emergency airfield at short notice (there were several of those all over the country). I have seen pictures of a (probably FALLEX) manouvre where a C-130 is using it. There are also rumours that they did this with a 707 once, but so far I couldn’t find anything to confirm or deny this.
sharks are cool!
whale sharks are even cooler!
robots are cool.
robot sharks are way cool!
Robot Whale Sharks, FTW!
Also, much easier to be retrofitted with lasers.
But is the food any better?
I bet the armed forces will be all over this idea.
As long as it is the same quality, or even slightly worse, lots of organisations are going to be all over that, I bet
If that, it could have taken a swing into Frank Zappa’s song “Artificial Rhonda”.
