Huh.
Don’t have a laminator.
Do have a paper cutter.
Don’t have red paper.
Do have cardstock.
And I have to go to the co-op tomorrow for groceries.
I wonder if they have any of these just lying around for anyone to take.

A friend on another platform says that a friend of theirs is putting hundreds of these cards in washrooms all over the south side of Chicago.
Reminds me of ICE’s apparent consternation that communities seem prepared ahead of raids, so “illegals” have been hard to catch.
Dude, we have a quota to fill, where did they all go?!

I’m very happy to say I know some of the people out there putting the cards in those washrooms! (And not just the south side, but all over.)

Just spoke with my organizing principle (my wife) She has ordered card stock, lamination and pocket holders and we will commence printing and distributing. It is so very indicative of where we are that letting people know about what rights they have feels transgressive. I will get them going here, she will get stacks for her food bank. On, the revolution!
There is a child in my neighbourhood who has 2 mothers and one father; the mothers are a lesbian couple and the father, who donated the sperm, is an old friend. The child has 3 sets of grandparents, and visits all of them regularly. I don’t know about the legal status of the parents, though.
The fact that both of you are willing to take some possible risks to help protect people like that, instead of standing there doing nothing, speak amazingly well of both of you. Hugs and love to you and your wife!
Two of my metamours (my nesting partner is with both of them) and their nesting partner have two lovely children - paternal twins. The birth certificates lists both men of the triad as the father for each.

From federal workers refusing illicit and destructive orders, including the pressure to resign. From people all over the country obstructing ICE, committing to noncooperation, and reaching out to and standing with their immigrant neighbors, friends, coworkers, students, community… From organizations standing up for trans rights, reproductive rights, freedom of speech. From people saving data being deleted from federal sites. From lawyers filing lawsuits and judges blocking illicit orders. From the epic pushback against the OMB attempt to seize Congress’s power of the purse. Spamming snitch lines.
This does not mean we will be all right. Everything is under attack. It just means pretty much everything under attack is being defended. And that a lot of people are not indifferent or defeated or sitting around waiting for someone else to do it. It’s going to take a lot more, for a long time.
But I like the surly noncooperation and insubordination I’m seeing. Let’s feed and water it and remember that resistance takes many forms. Some quiet and subtle. Some civil disobedience, some lawsuits, some campaigns, strikes. Maybe some new forms yet to emerge. Sometimes there’s a chance for sudden action; there’s always need for steadfast commitment.
They’re seeing what they can get away with. We’re seeing what we can stop. Making the public aware of the cost of their destructiveness is going to be a crucial part of the work. And going big at the beginning serves us in the end.
It’s a lot. So find your people and find your inner Tank Girl.
I am relying on this place to keep me from giving into despair.
Spanish, Russian, Ukranian. Largest immigrant groups locally. Will see how things go. I’m not asking petmission, but my wife felt she had to and is concerned that there will be Trumpy folks who push back on helping the undocumented. At a food bank. I’m not gonna get outraged yet, we’ll see.
