eta: @OhHai , there was a period when Cory Doctorow would post silly things and ask us to look at this… (like plastic banana slicers) and simply append the post with “just look at it”.

i don’t think it ever made sense, nor does it now. it just became a meme in its own place and time. a meme that continued long after its origin was faded in memories.
that’s why i am still fond, but as we move ahead, we can drop some old bags at the door.

I don’t know about Jez, but the AV Club is looking as though it’s getting revitalized. Splinter is even back. I’ve not revived my account but I see a lot of old names in the comments and even some old authors are back.

I think they were all sold off to different buyers, and I guess some had more invested in bringing the old formats.
