At least one 2023 survey found that deepfake pornography has already become normalized adult entertainment, with 74 percent of 1,522 US male deepfake porn users reporting they “don’t feel guilty” about viewing it.
Gaaahhh, men suck. On the list of things that need to die in a fire.
Well, I’m glad I never saw the new Captain America movie. What is this masculinity that is so easily killed? Why can they never actually define what the hell they mean when they say masculinity is being destroyed?
Conservatives hate him / the movie because he / the movie are too woke (e.g. oh no he’s black! And he says that America does not currently have the traits that Captain America values).
I’m finding a little bit online about how Mackie is kind of a creep toward women? I just don’t want to follow that up. Blech.
Also an interviewer said afterward that Mackie was an asshole and the worst interview he’d ever done, which apparently you’re not supposed to do as a journalist but I say, better to know who the assholes are earlier rather than later…
Yes, it’s maddeningly vague on how he’s raising them to be those respectful men, isn’t it? Invoking a drill Sargent is a bit worrying, though. Why would you berate your children?
As I posted elsewhere, the new Cap movie goes out of its way to avoid politics, while the new Daredevil has Wilson Fisk as an obvious stand-in for Trump becoming mayor of New York, and Matt Murdoch beating up corrupt Punisher-worshipping cops, just in the first two episodes. It’s hard to believe these are coming out of the same studio.
They even have Fisk’s wife not wanting to appear in public with him. It’s not exactly a subtle metaphor.
On a sad note, apparently being cast the play a big cat themed superhero with a color modifier in the name is bad luck. The actor who played White Tiger in the first 3 episodes died of cancer in December 2023, shortly after filming wrapped. As with Chad Boseman, his coworkers didn’t know, although they noticed he seemed to be in a lot of pain during filming. This seems appropriate to point out in this particular thread.
Yes, I have been describing it as the okayest movie I have ever seen. It’s not good. It’s not bad. It’s just . . . ok. It might actually be more interesting if it were bad.
