None of the alleged assailants were trans women.

Is that equivalent to “he’s learned his lesson”?

Indeed. Someone should call her ass out on this shit, too. It’s white cis men with power that hurt cis women, not trans women, not Black women, generally speaking, not Black men.

I am sorry that happened to her, and I’m sorry the authorities ignored it. But she needs to stop taking her trauma out on people with less privilege than herself. She needs to act in solidarity with her sisters and do something to stop MEN LIKE THIS… FFS…

Collins is just so useless. She’s the toady partner to McConnel’s monster making.

She sounds kinda pissed! And of course, she has her ducks firmly in line as she more or less calls out this cash-grab shitshow for what it is. More of this Dems, please!

Jezebel gave no quarter to that asshole… Essentially, it sucks this happened to her, but this sounds like another means to attack Rep. McBride and other trans women, and a set up for a run for governor. If so, this makes her even more of a disgusting slimeball grifter, willing to use a violent assault against herself and other women/girls for her political advantage…

If the accused are innocent- I hope they sue her ass off.

Me too. Weaponizing sexual assault is fucking beyond the pale.

I always believe women but in this case, I’ll need proof. Nancy Mace is a conniving bigot. She’s mean and an all-around awful human being. She could tell me the sky is blue and I wouldn’t believe her.

Yeah, and even if all that is true, she’s still an asshole for throwing trans women under the bus and using sexual assault to do that… As @KathyPartdeux said up thread - trans women didn’t do that to her, and in fact are probably MORE likely to face sexual violence than someone like Mace.

Can they? It was done on the floor.

Good point. Damn it!

She specifically said it on the floor to avoid being sued.

“Any and all statements made by members on the House floor are quintessential ‘legislative acts’, and protected by the speech and debate clause afforded under the constitution of the United States,” the statement from Mace’s office said. “Her statements tonight are not conjecture, they are not allegations, they are facts based on information she uncovered and documents she accidentally discovered.”

You’d think she would welcome a lawsuit after there was no criminal investigation. Or file a lawsuit herself. It isn’t like she doesn’t have the money to pay for good lawyers.

A closed-door meeting for House Democrats this week included a gripe-fest directed at liberal grassroots organizations, sources tell Axios.

Why it matters: Members of the Steering and Policy Committee — with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) in the room — on Monday complained activist groups like MoveOn and Indivisible have facilitated thousands of phone calls to members’ offices.

  • “People are pissed,” a senior House Democrat who was at the meeting said of lawmakers’ reaction to the calls.
  • The Democrat said Jeffries himself is “very frustrated” at the groups, who are trying to stir up a more confrontational opposition to Trump.
  • A Jeffries spokesperson noted to Axios that their office regularly engages with dozens of stakeholder groups, including MoveOn and Indivisible, including as recently as Monday

Zoom in: “There were a lot of people who were like, ‘We’ve got to stop the groups from doing this.’ … People are concerned that they’re saying we’re not doing enough, but we’re not in the majority,” said one member.

  • Some Democrats see the callers as barking up the wrong tree given their limited power as the minority party in Congress: “It’s been a constant theme of us saying, ‘Please call the Republicans,’” said Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.).
  • "I reject and resent the implication that congressional Democrats are simply standing by passively," said Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.).

Soooo, you’re simply standing by aggressively, then?

I’m not seeing much more besides some standing by, while sometimes talking. . .
