Maybe so… in any case, thanks to Chuck Schumer, I guess we don’t have to find out if DOGE would have been able to continue the hack and slash unimpeded or if enough people would have stepped up to stop them in the case of a shut down…

They did not. They didn’t ask for badges, so they weren’t able to confirm at the time that it wasn’t Marshalls (this was confirmed, sort of, after the fact).
Again, I’m not faulting the workers at USAID. But now we know the playbook. We have court orders that back the federal workers up against DOGE. Just because it was reasonable to let DOGE get away with it before doesn’t mean it’s reasonable now.
And I’ve already conceded; I’m asking a lot. But we need a lot in order to combat fascism. Federal workers are at the front lines and they ARE the front lines. But their advantage is that they vastly outnumber the bad actors.
Same mandate, different circumstances.

It’s not about “efficiency”, and it never has been.
This is about making a statement, and that statement is that they’re not “hiding” how things used to be, they’re not covering anything over, they’re not painting over it or whitewashing anything.
They intend to systematically destroy anything that’s been touched by empathy or human feeling. They will rip up and tear down anything that reminds anyone that there’s anything other than them. You will never be able to strip off their branding, because there will be nothing underneath but them. They will destroy the history, they will destroy the memories, they will destroy the concept in the process of destroying the idea.
This is totalitarianism. You will not be allowed to have any history but them.
They are memory-holing the road, as part of their effort to erase any sign that the concept ever existed.

Schumer broke two prime rules of politics for leaders. First, don’t defy your own troops. More importantly, when you have the votes, as Schumer did, don’t capitulate without getting something in return. But Schumer folded a fairly strong hand, unilaterally. As a thank you, Trump rubbed it in, with a post on Truth Social: “Really good and smart move by Senator Schumer. Took ‘guts’ and courage!”
If you will accept “i was provoked” as an excuse to kill babies, you are a monster. Period.
Duckworth has been a fantastic Senator for us. Her history is pretty damn amazing (if you haven’t seen the infamous 1:30 clip of her in her debate, please go watch it for a cringe laugh) and she’s been relentless in her actions for the people. Heck, the woman even had a baby and came back to work because evil Mitch wouldn’t allow her to be remote and work.
